Drop C and Drop B are both very low tunings, so you’ll want to use strings that are specifically designed for these tunings or for “extended range” instruments. You’ll also want to use strings with a gauge (thickness) that is suitable for the tension you want on your guitar.

For Drop C tuning, a good starting point would be to use strings with a gauge of around 10-52 or 11-56. These gauges will provide enough tension to keep the strings in tune while still allowing you to bend them comfortably. Some popular string brands that make strings in this gauge range include Ernie Ball, D’Addario, and Elixir.

For Drop B tuning, you may want to go with an even heavier gauge, such as 11-58 or 12-60. Again, Ernie Ball, D’Addario, and Elixir all make strings in these gauges.

Keep in mind that the specific gauge you choose will depend on your personal playing style and the type of guitar you have. If you’re not sure which gauge to use, you may want to try a few different sets to see which one works best for you.
